France in the American Revolution Essay Example for Free

France in the American Revolution Essay The role of France in the American Revolution can be identified as noticeable and visible. Despite the fact that the country experienced financial difficulties, it had managed to use the American Revolution as an effective tool to weaken arch-rival in both affairs of Europe, Britain and many other countries. The position of the British Empire was seriously damaged and therefore, France expected the United States to ally with it. There are many suggestions and assumptions about the role the country has played in the American Revolutionary War. Some argue that the sole purpose of the country was to revenge the British Empire as France had lost its territory in America after signing the Treaty of Paris in 1763. Others claim that the country has made up decision to intervene not to revenge, but because of strong desire to revenge the loss of Canada. However, the widely help suggestion is that France participated in the American Revolution because of desperate French position in Europe. Nevertheless, America had failed to weaken the British power and war appeared to be a tragic failure for French expectations. It is argued that the country â€Å"was desperate for peace but did not attempt to betray the United States†. (p. 87) Therefore, France can be defined as one of the most important supporters in American Revolution. Debt maintenance was the primary problem of the French government and the war resulted in more severe financial crisis which â€Å"which provided the immediate occasion for the release of those forces which shattered the French political and social order†. (p. 134) Summing up, France entered the revolutionary war in 1779 and helped the United States to become independent from the British Empire. France was willing to become the first commercial partner of the newly-formed and independent United States, but its hopes failed to be realized, but France became important trade partner. France expected to be recognized in the American Revolution and to be appreciated, as well as it was going to re-gain its territories in the United States. Works Cited Dull, Jonathan R. A. Hip Hop Essay -- Culture Hip Hop Music Essays

Hip Hop Hip-hop is a musical art form, created by African-Americans and Latino-Americans in the mid seventies. Its conception came from a young generation of African-Americans in the Bronx, who created a beautiful, prideful expression of music, art and dance from a backdrop of poverty. Since that ignition in a New York City borough, it has inspired people from all socio-economic and cultural backgrounds all across the world. When hip-hop is discussed as an art form and not just as rap, it usually is meant to include the four elements: the DJ, the emcee, graffiti writing, and break dancing. Some of these were around before the words "hip-hop" were uttered, but they reestablished their identities within hip-hop. I have been listening to a growing range of hip-hop for five years, steadily. However, I do not adhere myself to hip-hop by identity, meaning I don't rap, DJ, break-dance, or write graffiti on a regular basis. Thus I accept my fan status, but I do consider myself an educated fan, and since hip-hop has given me a lot in terms of ideas, joy, and enlightenment, I will try to regard it with the respect that it deserves as well as make a conscious effort to open my eyes to the conditions of racial discrimination in this country. My methodology in conducting this field report was to read the work of respected journalists on hip-hop, or by hip-hop artists, watch the movie Wildstyle, a revered and influential movie that is now nearly 20 years old and which documents hip-hop as it was in the Bronx. Hip-hop is my primary listening interest, and I do consider five years of listening to hip-hop and seeing hip-hop shows a resource. The idea of learning hip-hop through books is laughable to many of those wh... ...1982 (!), the year that I was born, was so pure, unaffected by what the image the industry wanted it to have later on. The books I read I enjoyed immensely, challenging my ideas, what I though were facts, and making me think harder. Unfortunately, I wasn. t able to supplement this report with an interview, however there was nobody with the exception of a professor whom I wished to interview. I could have gathered more viewpoints on this subject, but I think the sources I. ve quoted are very reliable. Works Cited: 1. George, Nelson. 1998. Hip-hop America. Penguin Putnam Inc. My Life As A Sport - 1151 Words

My life has always consisted of sports, whether it was baseball, basketball, snowmobiling or golf. Growing up I was always injured from sports, I don’t believe I have ever finished a sport without being hurt. From these injuries I have learned how to rehab almost any part of my body, arm, wrist, ankle, hamstring, quadriceps, knee, fingers and shoulders. I grew fond of my school’s personal trainer and physical therapist; I knew I wanted to help people rehab. It got to the point in high school that I looked forward to my rehab sessions because I liked the atmosphere of the therapy clinic and wanted to see what injuries the other patients had. It is easy to say that injuries and rehab were part of my day to day life from a young age. I knew I†¦show more content†¦I saw how caring and motivated the therapist was and how much she helped my grandfather. Learning how to dress, feed and take care of himself, it brought light to my grandpa’s eyes. I knew right th ere that Occupational was for me, I love the medical rehab setting and have always been driven to help people. The way my grandpa still talks about the therapists by name to other family members and friends years later, really goes to show that a therapist can impact a patient on a very high level. This setting would provide me with the ability to care for and rehab patients without the pure sports setting that I have been looking for. The best experience I have had with the shadowing of an occupational therapist came this last summer in home health. I traveled into a woman’s house that had polio on her left side and a hip replacement on her right side. She had polio her whole life and this disease caused her to go legally blind. The difference the occupational therapist made was immense, helping her set up her house so that she could imprint an outline of her home in her head, allowing her to move around with a mental image since she could not hardly see. The therapist also helped with making the bathroom safer with risers and more pull bars. I got to do some engineering and home improvement to her toilet riser with straps and bungee cords that helped her become safer in the bathroom.
